To Become a Certified Aerial Yoga Instructor

If you love practicing Aerial Yoga and you are looking to become a certified Aerial Yoga instructor, or if you would like to bring your own personal Aerial Yoga experience to a new level, I’d like to introduce you to Aerial Yoga Teacher Training 2020.

Since 2010, I’ve taught aerial yoga classes all over San Diego and I’ve learned that for every one student who trains in person with me, there are at least ten more students who would love to join but can’t make it due to distance, work commitments, family obligations, or most all, COVID-19 traveling and/or in-person contact restrictions.

Well you are in luck- we now offer a virtual training course! There are so many pro’s to using this training program, and the most important ones are as follows:

  • Reap the Benefits & See Results – There are many different styles of yoga, and they’re all great and beneficial, but Aerial Yoga students are getting something unique. The silk fabrics used in Aerial Yoga cater to a variety of students and any possible medical issues they might be trying to overcome. Aerial Yoga is great for relieving back pain, muscle aches, and joint pain, and this all comes from being suspended from the silk fabric. Not only will students feel that their muscles and joints are more relieved and relaxed, but they will also see improvements in their core, leg, and arm strength. On top of that, hanging from a silk hammock from the ceiling is FUN!

  • Build Your Clientele – Traditional yoga has become quite mainstream lately, especially through social media. That being said, it can be difficult to attract the attention of new students who are looking to try something different. Although there is absolutely nothing wrong with traditional yoga, Aerial Yoga provides a new twist on the traditional yoga that has taken over influencer culture. The idea of being suspended from the ceiling in a silk hammock to practice new yoga poses is sure to attract students who are looking for something different, or for something that is a fun, new way to exercise with friends. This is an industry that is not yet saturated, so take advantage and build your very own clientele!

  • Own Your Time – One of the best parts of being a yoga instructor of any kind is the ability to make your own schedule and be in charge of your own time. Becoming an Aerial Yoga instructor will allow you to do just that! Take control of your schedule and start working when it is most convenient for you. This is life changing!

  • Take it anywhere! – As a certified Aerial Yoga instructor, you can teach virtually anywhere. Especially in 2020 where COVID restrictions are prevalent, you can also teach virtually with your own online classes. This makes it easy for you to set up shop wherever you want, and stream your classes to students all over the world! This is a perfect way to earn a living and be able to travel the world at the same time. Need we say more?

  • Earn a Living! – You can make a wonderful hourly wage even as a new Aerial Yoga teacher. When you’re highly specialized in your teaching, you’ll typically make as much as senior-level teachers of more traditional styles of yoga. You can even charge higher amounts for private lessons, which will solidify your clientele even more, and will help you gain even more students through word-of-mouth.

In this day and age where everyone is virtually working remotely, there has never been a more perfect time to become an Aerial Yoga Instructor. Galaxy Lifestyle wants to help give you the tools, knowledge, and training needed to become a certified Aerial Yoga instructor. Get ready to live your life on your own terms!

Online Training

To become an instructor, you will join us for a 100 hour online course to learn the safety, terminology, and techniques to become a fully certified and insurable aerial yoga instructor!

With this specific AYTT you can tune in live to the virtual sessions or connect in -person in San Diego to the dates and times listed. However if you feel more comfortable doing it fully online we are offering this option as well. The great part about this 100 hour training is that you can take this online course at your own time and at your own pace. There is no pressure to tune into the live classes, so you can take the class (which is recorded) and put in the hours in whenever and wherever it is most convenient for you to do so. Own your own time!

The Opportunity

At Galaxy Lifestyle, we have pioneered both group and private Aerial Yoga classes in our studios, and the response has been overwhelming. More and more studios, fitness centers, and individuals worldwide are now looking for professionally-trained teachers to model our success and lead this fun and dynamic style of practice.

For certified Aerial Yoga teachers, there are three main teaching opportunities right now. First, there are private one-on-one sessions with clients which can be a great way to create highly individualized, solution-oriented sessions. This will also help you build up your clientele through word-of-mouth from satisfied clients who have attended your private sessions. Private clients also offer you a flexible schedule, great pay, and the opportunity to impact your students’ lives in a more personal and beneficial way!

Second, there are in-person group classes. You can teach group classes in studios all over the world. Once you have received permission to practice teaching aerial yoga in a studio, you can start hosting your own classes. If you eventually own your own studio, this is also great practice to begin learning how to teach group classes of all sizes!

Last but certainly not least, there are online classes via Zoom, Facebook live, and more. During this time of the pandemic, online classes are going to be your best friend. This is probably where you will have your first experience with teaching actual students, assuming the COVID restrictions are still going on over the next few months. Online classes are also great even without a pandemic, as you have the ability to teach from wherever or whenever you want, whether you livestream your classes or upload them on your own site for students to watch whenever they want, via subscription.

The Curriculum

The Aerial Yoga Training curriculum is designed to empower you with the anatomy, physiology, leadership, safety, and business skills needed to become a successful aerial yoga teacher. T Mac, your course instructor, has been training professional yogi instructors since 2005, and her approach to Aerial Yoga Teacher Training focuses on helping you become the best version of yourself that you can be.

You’re here today with us to learn to teach, and you’ll walk away as a qualified instructor and part of something bigger: a tribe!

E-Learning PlatformWe offer a strong, supportive foundation, quality manual, easy to follow downloadable training videos with a visual step by step guide demonstrating on how each pose is conducted.

Caring for your body & Injury Care: Many people flock to the aerial yoga method for pain relief. As a teacher, you need to be well-versed in common ailments, treatments, terminology, and safety protocols. We definitely are not physicians, but our yoga can serve as a form of rehab therapy when taught correctly together with the support of health care professionals. You will need to understand the presence of pain in students so that you can navigate it safely and effectively as an instructor.

Anatomy & Physiology: Body awareness and mobility knowledge is extremely important when guiding your clients through an aerial yoga class. You will explore the physiology and anatomy of what’s going on in your body internally and externally. This course will give you the knowledge and confidence to safely guide those who you will teach after you successfully complete the course. Plus a clearer connection with your own body. We’ll make sure you are prepared!

Curing, Sequencing & Class Planning: The beauty of our teacher training is that you will learn dozens of individual poses and sequences during this course. How to smoothly cure a full class to safely enter and exit poses. Fully understand the logic of purposeful curing to a peak pose and intelligent sequencing. These skills will allow you to structure classes from beginner to advanced levels. You’ll also be able to learn how you can teach unique workshops, which are great for guest teacher appearances while traveling!

Leadership & Class Management: Leading an Aerial yoga class is much more challenging than teaching a mat yoga class because students are primarily inside the silk. They sometimes are not able to see you, so always be aware when approaching a student. As an instructor, you must enforce safety and keep control over your group and private classes, but obviously while having fun! Leading a class effectively and safely is of the utmost importance.

Spotting & Safety: The new one priority as an AY teacher is safety. We will give you the tools and techniques of spotting a client to build confidence for their future in aerial yoga. When taught correctly Aerial yoga is extremely safe. This practice does involve inversions, or a student being upside down, so there is always potential for danger. As a teacher, your job’s most important duty is to keep everyone safe. That means double checking the rigging and hammocks for safety, maintaining students' awareness of appropriate level postures, feeling confident to kindly remove a distracting and unsafe client, leadership of class, and constantly staying aware of your surroundings. A key part of your job is safety first, and it’s something you will get to master with us during the course.

To create the higher life you desire and the higher life you deserve.
